Love blind by Aya

The first time I talked to you was right after a show. ‘Were you glowing exceptionally bright today or did the spotlights deceive me?’ I wanted to tell you that I am not a pick up line enthusiast, but it was too soon. I started dating you to let this get over quickly. You had to let me down at one point. And a few weeks later you did it again: ‘you’re a metaphor, because you’re hard to get.’ ‘I’m more for the spontaneous things in life’, I answered but it was too late. I was in love. A year later we’re sitting in the same car. We’re talking about eye laser correction. The frame of my glasses had broken, and I brought you along to pick a new one together. Without any sense of drama in my voice, I imagined the worst scenario: going blind. I ask if you would stay. ‘Yes, because then I would become your eyes.’ You do it again. Being blind is no fun. I want to keep seeing how your eyes turn gleamy when you ask whether I’ll stay with you forever. And I stay silent for a while and then nod vigorously. The wrinkles around your eyes dig deeper into your skin when you smile. It would be a shame not to see you.

About this cup

This large Latte/Tea cup is produced at Studio Cor Unum. Designer Charlotte Landsheer worked out a solution for left over clay in the Cor Unum studio by re-using clay and glaze. The inside of the cup has glaze, the exterior is industrial and dusted. The result is a cup with a basic, firm and rugged look. The producing method makes every cup unique with a constant variation in a matted greyscale pallet. The perfection of imperfection as Lotte Landsheer puts it. And this fits how we like to view the world and it’s people.

Because of the use of high temperature, the cup is water resistant, strong and microwave and dishwasher safe.
